“Idols” was the first song to be written by the band, which is one of the main reasons as to why it was chosen to be the first release. It had been a long time since the instrumentation had been written so it’s kind of sentimental for a couple of the members. 

It was also the first track that was used as an audition for Thomas when he reached out to the other members to be a vocalist. 
The lyrics revolve around social media and the idea that people should explore and experience life and their passions on their own, rather than stay in the comfort of living vicariously through their favourite, popular influencers.

“Machines” was the second song released by the band. The band wanted to have a song that sounded heavier, which is represented by the low tunings from the guitars and bass, by using 8 string guitars.  

This song was also the second song that was used as an audition for Thomas, Connor and Alex, when they reached out to be members of the band.

The Lyrics were written about a guy trying to warn humanity about Artificial Intelligence/robots taking over but no one is taking it seriously. Towards the end, he decides to go through the grueling process of transferring his brain and nervous system into a machine and be one with the robots/Artificial Intelligence instead. 

“Definition” was the third single released by the band. The band wanted to have a song that sounded upbeat and bouncy, with some groove elements. This is accentuated by the higher tuning of the song, with the added bouncy polyrhythms and syncopation in the rhythms of the song. The band also wanted to create a journey sonically with the mix of high gain guitars for most of the sections and then the sudden shift in vibe, with the thick, ambient clean section in the bridge.

This song was also made the title track of the EP, as the band feels this song ties the EP together, both sonically and meaningfully, in the perfect way.

The Lyrics encapsulates the saying “do what you want to do and not what you don’t want to do”. Finding a way to strive and reach for something you love to move away from current and undesirable circumstances.
